From the NY Times: “He was, as our Rome bureau chief Jason Horowitz put it, ‘a pope of surprises.'”

Reading that prompted me to search my blogs for things Pope Francis inspired. Two journaling images popped up, both featuring upside-down rainbows on back-side pages. My spirit felt a wink.

Feeling pleasantly surprised, I posted the images on Facebook and wrote a few words.

Cross my heart, here’s the next image I saw of Pope Francis:

There is sadness in me that we no longer have Pope Francis on this side of the veil. He was a good human being, a humble teacher, a breath of fresh air, a model of profound faith, a trusted world leader and always so much more.

Somehow, though, it feels like heaven just got a little closer for all of us.
