Ta-daaaah! . . . WOW’s Tree of Life!

If you’ve been following this painting’s journey, you may notice that I added a final element. Welcome, Owl!

The original painting is 36″x48″. There will be smaller prints made, details forthcoming. The work was commissioned by a project with Nourishing Vocation with Children at St. Olaf College, a program funded through Lilly Endowment’s Nurturing Children Through Worship and Prayer Initiative. You can read about the project here – https://wp.stolaf.edu/nourishing…/wonders-of-worship/.

While I was moving the painting around in my studio, it helped to have the edges be dry. Today I painted the top, left and right edges. I also signed it! In about a week, I’ll paint the bottom edge and it will be officially done.

Below are close-up images inspired by the liturgical seasons. These elements are found at the base of the tree where roots, like the rituals and rhythms of the liturgical seasons, provide structural support and nourishment.

Advent

Christmas

Epiphany

Lent

Easter

Pentecost

Ordinary Time

Over the next few days, I’ll share the other elements up close, too.

Thanks so much for being part of this painting’s journey!
