August 17

I begin this day’s look back with images from 2013, a year earlier than usual. I’ve been away from direct involvement with the ELCA Gulf Coast Synod’s Global Companion ministries for five years. I am deeply grateful that the friendships remain possible through social media and digital communication.

2013 – This 1000 Peace Crane project was a fund/awareness-raiser I facilitated for the ministries of the ELCA Gulf Coast Synod’s global companions in CAR and Peru.

2013 – A group from Living Word ELCA partnered with companions at Luz de Paraiso in Peru to plant 20 trees and create a mural with the community.

“Why did I think lighter eyes were more attractive on me? What did I truly want?” —Ibram X. Kendi, How To Be An Antiracist

“Seven Years of Wonder” is a daily look back at my creative journaling posts since 2014. I began this journey on Feb. 11, 2021, and hope to continue through Feb. 10, 2022. What am I learning about my art and faith journey thus far? What has remained constant? Where have I been changed? How is this impacting present and future art-making?

A deep bow of gratitude to you for keeping me company on this journey.
