October 25

As I scroll through this day’s images from the past, a poem seemed to want to bubble up. I felt something familiar with the “Fall in and reap” line and realized its cadence reminded me of “Read ’em and weep.” 🙂

Fall in and reap,

For now we see piece by piece.

Shine on, Soul,

Beat on, Heart.

Tread this new ground.

“We see the world piece by piece, as the sun, the moon, the animal, the tree; but the whole of which of these are the shining parts, is in the soul.” ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

The “scandal of particularity” (Walter Brueggemann) is clearly the biblical pattern. … “A mystic is precisely one who sees things in wholes and not just in parts; [s]he moves the incarnate moment to read the very mind of God. … Big truth must be presented on small stages for humans to get the point.” ~Richard Rohr, The Divine Dance

“Quantum worlds and cosmological findings offer compelling perspectives of the human journey. … To be certain, we are all treading on new ground.” —Barbara A. Holmes, Race and the Cosmos, p. 36,37

“Seven Years of Wonder” is a daily look back at my creative journaling posts since 2014. I began this journey on Feb. 11, 2021, and hope to continue through Feb. 10, 2022. What am I learning about my art and faith journey thus far? What has remained constant? Where have I been changed? How is this impacting present and future art-making?

A deep bow of gratitude to you for keeping me company on this journey.
