I remember the moment that inspired the 2016 image. I was standing next to an artist who was immersed in tears of deep joy as she looked at what she had made. Gulp… Here come those tears from within me as I describe witnessing this moment.

Mirror, Mirror… Help us see

Love at work in Mystery.

Change happens, doesn’t it?

Sometimes we can see it coming.

Often we resist it.

Grant us the wisdom of right resistance, Holy One.

“My prayer and meditation consist for a large part of sitting quietly in front of the Face of God. That Face does not really have any form; I cannot imagine what it looks like. I am simply present at a silent Presence. God is an all-encompassing mystery for me, which fills me with deep love and reverence.” ~Kick Bras

“What If antiracists constantly self-critiqued our own ideas? … Self-critique allows change. Changing shows flexibility.” —Ibram X. Kendi, How To Be An Antiracist, p. 214

“Seven Years of Wonder” is a daily look back at my creative journaling posts since 2014. I began this journey on Feb. 11, 2021, and hope to continue through Feb. 10, 2022. What am I learning about my art and faith journey thus far? What has remained constant? Where have I been changed? How is this impacting present and future art-making?

A deep bow of gratitude to you for keeping me company on this journey.
