February 9

It’s hard to imagine what was going on in the heart of Olympic alpine skier, Mikaela Shiffrin, as she sat on the slope after disqualifying for the slalom. If you haven’t heard her story, you can watch it here.

There’s something about today’s sequence of images that feels like a prayer for her.

“Seven Years of Wonder” is a daily look back at my creative journaling posts since 2014. I began this journey on Feb. 11, 2021, and hope to continue through Feb. 10, 2022. What am I learning about my art and faith journey thus far? What has remained constant? Where have I been changed? How is this impacting present and future art-making?

A deep bow of gratitude to you for keeping me company on this journey.

    Hi Vonda,

It is a joy to open your emails each day and see how your creations! Thank you for sharing your journey over the years.

I love your 2016 drawing in this email. It speaks so clearly of our journey with God here on earth. Is it possible to buy your drawings?

    Thank you again!

Hi, Terry! Thanks for your message!

I would love for you to have this drawing. Let me tell you a little bit about it first before you commit. 🙂 It’s 5×7 and was part of a journaling series through the 2016 ELCA World Hunger campaign called 40 Days of Giving. You can see the collection of images here – https://www.pinterest.com/vondadrees/elca-world-hunger-40-days-of-giving-images/.

As far as purchasing it goes, allow me to suggest three options for places where a donation (of whatever amount) can be made: Affordable Housing in New Orleans – https://gofund.me/e42d7fe4, Race & Faith’s Sankofa Project – https://www.raceandfaith.org/the-sankofa-project/, or Alice’s Garden Urban Farm – https://www.alicesgardenmke.com/shop/2021-garden-donations. Hopefully one of the three will speak to your heart, too!

Message me your address and I’ll pop the image in the mail to you. 🙂
